Welcome to the German YMCA in London
Our vision is of a loving, supportive community in which everyone can develop their full potential in mind, body and spirit.
Inspired by Christian values but inclusive in our reach, for over 160 years we have worked in
Central London to benefit our community and transform people’s lives.
In its central location, close to Lancaster Gate on the north side of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens,
the German YMCA offers a variety of cultural and leisure activities, advice, support and help for the
German-speaking community, their international friends and the local community.

Our German language and culture classes for every level are a good way to learn a new language and socialise.
We offer a wide range of music activities and concerts to our members and their friends and families.
In cooperation with our partner organisation, we offer a volunteer programme for young people from Germany and Poland.

Peter’s Music - Royal Opera House: Cinderella I
Through the seasons and the stars, where dreams blossom. Enjoy a new production of the timeless classic Cinderella starring Marianela Núñez and Vadim Muntagirov in the famous rags-to-riches story. Please note that the ballet will be shown in two instalments - Part I this week, Part II next week.

Community Quiz & Curry Night 2026
Come and join us for a lively evening of trivia and tasty delights! Hosted by Quizmaster Rupert Bean, this fun-filled evening features a challenging quiz for all ages and a curry buffet to keep your brain fuelled. Tickets are £15 per person.

We'll admire all the animals, wander through lovely gardens and enclosures, and finish with a relaxing picnic featuring tea, coffee, and delicious snacks. Places cost £5 and are limited.

Community Choir Concert - Fundraising Evening
Our local community choir will perform their amazing summer repertoire in order to raise funds for our partner organisation ‘The Friends of St. Mary’s Hospital’ to help improve patient and visitor experiences and fund things that may not be covered by standard NHS budgets. Art Adventures - Mexico: Frida Kahlo Figure Drawing
Discover the vibrant world of Frida Kahlo, one of Mexico’s most celebrated artists. Explore her distinctive style and expressive figure drawings, before creating our own artwork.
No prior art experience is needed. All materials are provided.
Followed by tea, coffee, and cake. Donations welcome.
Peter’s Music - Film Afternoon: Paris Blues
Starring Paul Newman and Sidney Poitier as American jazz musicians in Paris, this film blends romance and drama with an authentic jazz atmosphere, featuring performances by real jazz musicians and authentic scenes of the Paris sixties club scene.
